Entry #4

I have started traveling, and I am writing this as I do so. I don't really have a map, but I figure I will be able to keep myself on the right track if I just walk away from the north star at night. Traveling would be much quicker if I could fly for the whole of the journey, but as usual, I can only fly at night because the humans might see me.

Earlier today I found out that one of the squirrels that I had 'cooked' hadn't actually been cooked all the way through. The first thing that gave me a hint was the fact that flies had started to gather around the meat bag. I then took all of the meat out of the bag and carefully sorted through all of the meat for nearly half an hour before I finally found out how to tell the difference between fully cooked meat and mostly cooked meat. That was half an hour of journeying time lost, half an hour! I guess I shouldn't really be that upset, after all, half an hour isn't really that much.

Now I will talk about flying. Flying is an amazing thing to experience, so it is rather disappointing that humans are only doing the fake kind, in their planes and hot air balloons and such. Flying, real flying, makes it feel as if the air is as thick as water. Every time you beat your wings, you can feel yourself lifting up, higher and higher. And diving down and swooping is like when you come out of a dive underwater at the bottom and then are propelled forwards because of your momentum, only faster. And I find it quite odd that some humans are afraid of flying. I mean, how could someone be afraid of something so fun?
